- Buttock region
- Face and Neck
- Abdominal area
- Ankle region
- And more
Dr. Nikko Discusses Liposuction
Dr Nikko answers questions and common concerns about liposuction.
The liposuction procedure is performed by inserting a tube (also referred to as a “cannula”) through a tiny, precise incision made within the natural creases of the body, masking any minimal scarring that may occur. Once the cannula is safely inserted, suction is then used to remove the unwanted fat from the body. Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise. Instead, liposuction should be used as an enhancement procedure, helping you to sculpt your body and improve your self-image and self-esteem. Dr. Nikko promotes a routine of exercise and healthy eating after surgery in order to maintain and improve results.
Dr. Nikko has been performing liposuction procedures for over 15 years. Today, he uses the advanced and modern method of liposuction at his Houston Cosmetic Surgery Center: Tumescent liposuction (also referred to as Liposculpture).
What is Tumescent Liposuction?
Tumescent liposuction is the latest in liposuction technology. It performs as well as traditional liposuction but with less impact on the body, reducing soreness or bruising. Once the area has been numbed, the saline fluid is injected into the fat cells, suspending them within, allowing them to be removed more efficiently. Tumescent liposuction allows for a faster and more comfortable recovery as well.
Throughout his career in Houston, Dr. Nikko has found that many patients share the same questions when it comes to the liposuction procedure. The following are some of the more common questions he is asked regarding liposculpture:
1: Is liposuction the right procedure for me?
Not all fat cells respond the way we would like to diet and exercise. Physical factors such as genetics and age, lifestyle factors such as childbirth, as well as environmental factors all contribute to the accumulation of unwanted and stubborn fat. Liposuction works to remove this fat, but it has the best results for those who practice a healthy lifestyle as well.
2: What areas of the body respond best to liposuction?
Liposuction can be effective on any part of the body where you find yourself troubled by unwanted fat deposits. Often it is used in conjunction with other plastic surgery procedures such as buttock augmentations or tummy tucks. Every patient is different and Dr. Nikko will be happy to examine your specific problem areas at his Houston Cosmetic Surgery Center.
3: How much weight will I lose* with liposuction?
Liposuction is not intended to be a stand-alone weight-loss procedure. However, it is a great way to lose* inches and sculpt the body. Each patient has different goals for liposuction. During your consultation Dr. Nikko will discuss your goals and expectations and determine the best and safest way to help you achieve them.
4: Will liposuction last?
This might be the most common question asked by patients at the Nikko Cosmetic Surgery Center in Houston, TX. The answer will please you – results will last. Committing to a healthy lifestyle is important though, because even though the fat will not grow back, it is still possible to gain weight in other parts of the body.

This will depend on your overall body-sculpting goals. Many patients are very thrilled with the dramatic results of their first procedure. Others choose to use liposculpture as an ongoing part of their fitness regime to fine-tune and sculpt certain areas of the body resistant to diet and exercise. Dr. Nikko will be happy to discuss your personal goals with you and help you determine what is right for you.
Will liposuction remove cellulite?
Liposuction can improve the appearance of cellulite by removing surrounding fat, but it will not remove cellulite. For patients wanting to correct stubborn cellulite, Dr. Nikko has non-invasive treatments available.
Will liposuction affect the appearance of my skin?
Liposuction can be used to dramatically improve the contour of your body but it will have no effect on existing dimples, ripples, or stretch marks. Dr. Nikko’s skill, experience, and his use of the Tumescent Liposculpture technique allow him to avoid any major or visible scarring from the procedure. Excessive skin folds after treatment are so rare that any surgical skin removal is most often unnecessary.
What is liposuction recovery like?
Liposuction is an outpatient surgery and you can expect be released from our Houston clinic within an hour following your procedure. You can expect some soreness and swelling but most patients are able to return to work fairly quickly following their procedure although, with all procedures, results may vary patient to patient.
