What can I Expect During my Forehead Lift Consultation with Dr. Nikko?
During your initial cosmetic consultation, Dr. Nikko will discuss your goals for the forehead lift procedure and explain your probable outcome of treatment. He will also help you decide which surgical approach will best meet your cosmetic goals, whether the classical forehead lift method or the FAMI fat grafting injections are best to restore volume in the eyebrow and forehead. You will be shown several before and after photographs of patients who had similar forehead lift concerns. Before and after surgery photos may be taken of your forehead lift procedure to document your results.
As we age, wrinkles and frown lines often first appear in the brow and forehead area. Genetics and environmental damage from the prolonged exposure to the sun can also accelerate the aging process. A forehead lift, eyebrow lift, or brow lift in Houston can smooth out the wrinkles and correct drooping brows and heavy lids to provide a younger, friendlier appearance. A brow lift can be performed alone or with other popular cosmetic procedures, such as a facelift, eyelid surgery or laser skin resurfacing. Dr. Nikko will consult with you to explain the many options available to place the brow to its natural position.
How Does the Procedure Raise the Forehead?
Depending on Dr. Nikko’s recommendations, a forehead lift can be performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with deep sedation or general anesthesia and may take one to two hours. With the classical or “open” method the incision is hidden just inside or by the hairline across the scalp and between the ears. Dr. Nikko lessens the appearance of wrinkles by removing selected muscles thus releasing the tissues that cause the wrinkles. The eyebrows may also be elevated and excess skin at the incision will be removed to allow a gentle re-draping of your forehead skin.
When can I Expect to Resume my Normal Activities After my Forehead Lift Procedure?
There is a minimal amount of discomfort following a forehead lift procedure. There will be swelling and bruising that may last from seven to ten days. For some patients this may include the cheeks and eyelids. Keeping the head elevated and applying cold compresses on the incision site will help to reduce swelling. As the incisions heal, patients can experience some itching and possibly some numbness that will diminish quickly over time. Makeup can be applied after a few days when the sutures are removed. Strenuous activity should be restricted for a few weeks.
